New Perth Glory recruit Daniel Sturridge left his social media followers in stitches after he made an unusual demand for a barber when he’s done with hotel quarantine.
Sturridge, 32, is getting ready for a new chapter in his football career following his transfer to Australian A-League side Perth Glory. The England international was without a club for 18 months before he was signed by Perth Glory as a free agent.
Perth Glory confirmed the signing of Daniel Sturridge in October and he would be one of the star attractions when the new Australian A-League starts later this month.
Daniel Sturridge is hoping to resurrect his career at Perth Glory in Australia after several months without a club. The Englishman had been without a club since his contract was terminated via mutual consent at Turkish Super League side Trabzonspor in March 2020.
Trabzonspor snapped Sturridge up on a free transfer in 2019 on the back of his exit from Liverpool and he was at the club for a few months before his contract was terminated. His Trabzonspor contract ended abruptly just after he was handed a ban by the English FA for breaching betting rules.
Sturridge spent the most productive part of his career at Liverpool and he was at the club for over six years having moved to Merseyside from Chelsea. One of his final act as a Liverpool player was when he was in the squad for the Champions League final in 2019. Sturridge was an unused substitute as Liverpool beat Premier League rivals Spurs in the final easily to seal a sixth European title. Egyptian national team talisman Mohamed Salah and Belgian substitute DivockOrigi were on target for the Reds in a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Champions League title turned out to be the only major trophy for Daniel Sturridge during his time at Liverpool.
