DIFFERENT TYPES OF FOOTBALL BOOTS

Football boots are an integral part of the life of a footballer irrespective of his or her level. They are crucial to the output of a footballer, amateur or professional.

There are various types of football boots and it’s important for a player to get his or her choice of football boot right for the purpose of performance and comfort. The appropriate type also helps to limit the possibility of injury.

Let’s examine the various types of football boots available for footballers:

1. Firm Ground Boots – These types are the most popular and they are appropriate for both summer and winter times. Firm Ground Boots are available in all shapes, patterns and sizes. These football boots are tailor made for dry and slightly wet grass surfaces.

2. Soft Ground Boots – These football boots are designed to cater to wet, muddy surfaces. They come in two main variations namely the modern mixed sole and the traditional 6-stud configuration. Increased stud pressure was a major problem for the traditional 6-stud configuration, but that has been minimized in the mixed sole.

3. Artificial Ground Boots – The increased use of 3G and 4G football surfaces has led footballers to the Artificial Ground Boots. They work well with the extra abrasion associated with artificial pitches.

4. Astroturf – The Astroturf football boots function well on the older style of synthetic football pitches especially the sand based or water types. They have a rubber-based sole to reduce the possibility of slipping.

5. Indoor – The Indoor football boots are designed for hard wooden surfaces. They are commonly used in futsal and 5-a-side games.
